Textiles that tell tales
Textiles that Tell Tales is an exhibition by The Museum of Indonesian Arts which was held at the Track Gallery.
The exhibition displayed textiles using various techniques including quilting and batik from many parts of Indonesia.
Exhibitor Frances Larder presented “Landscape of the Soul” - nine embroidered cloths which were inspired by the experiences of the Dutch in Indonesia during the 1945 Revolution.
To continue with the textiles theme, Sanggar Lestari performed a dance from South Sulawesi called Tari Pattennung. This dance represents women who are weaving threads into a cloth and shows the patience and persistence of the women of Toraja and South Sulawesi.
