Merry & Stefano's Wedding

We love performing at weddings. There’s something so beautiful about bringing traditional culture to such special occasions. Introducing your cultural heritage through dance to friends and family who may have never had the opportunity to travel and see it for themselves can really open their eyes to the beauty of where you come from.

Performing for Merry & Stefano, a Javanese Indonesian woman marrying a Greek man, was extra special for one of our dancers, Deena, who danced this very same dance (Tari Gambyong) with Yana & Laura for her wedding back in 2018, for her Greek husband and family. Click here to read about her wedding.

For Merry & Stefano’s wedding, Deena performed Tari Gambyong with Asti, one of our newest members and fastest learners. From zero traditional Indonesian dancing knowledge before joining Sanggar Lestari, to learning new dances week after week and mastering them like a pro.

We’re all so very proud of you and your progress Asti, what an absolute Queen you are!
