76M - Shoot #2
We wrapped up our shoot with 76m this weekend, and we’re so excited to see it all come together.
This shoot has put our knowledge to the test, to make sure we are as authentic as possible in putting together our interpretation of each region of Indonesia. It wasn’t an easy task creating a fully authentic experience with our limitations of being in Australia and working with what we have here. We have seen a lot of change in Melbourne’s traditional dance scene over the years, and although we understand that over time things can change (especially when you are trying to do things abroad, with the influences of western culture), we still strongly believe that our traditions need to be preserved as much as possible.
In staying true to our group name ‘Lestari‘ (meaning: To preserve), we have been putting together a creative piece for everybody to enjoy. This project will give others a better understanding of Indonesian dance and culture, by keeping as true to tradition as we possibly can.
Here are some of the behind the scenes shots from our final shoot over the weekend.
