Australia Talks

‘Do you know your neighbours by name?’
‘Do you feel safe walking alone at night in your neighbourhood?’
‘People should not be allowed to say things in public that discriminate against minorities’

These questions are probably not the usual dinner table discussions but they are the sorts of questions that were asked in the Australia Talks Survey. This survey involved responses from 54,000 people regarding their attitudes, behaviours and experiences in Australia.

Sanggar Lestari was so pleased to be invited as part of the audience at The Abc’s Live Taping of the Australia Talks Program, in which the results were discussed by some familiar faces: Waleed Aly, Annabelle Crabb and Benjamin Law. We were even lucky enough to chat to Benjamin Law after the show!

The show also involved comedians Kitty Flanagan, Steph Tisdell, Craig Reucassel and Anne Edmonds! It was a wonderful way to spend our Monday night as we enjoyed observing the 2019 snapshot of our way of life in Australia.

Once again, a huge thank you to ABC for the invitation to this informative and hysterical event! We went home with sore tummies from the laughter, but also a sense of relief after seeing the majority of positive responses from the Australian Public.

Where do you fit? If you haven’t already, check out the survey at: https://australiatalks.abc.net.au/
