Photoshoot with Yovina Kristiani

NO SLEEP FOR THE WICKED!

Just a day after Jess' Member bio photoshoot, it was time to do it all over again! This time we got ready for a Javanese inspired collaborative photoshoot with a Photography student, Yovina Kristiani.

GETTING READY

With Mama Ning abroad in Indonesia for the school holidays, we were feeling a little bit stressed about making a Javanese Konde as flawless as hers! After a bit of trial and error, Yana successfully attached Jess' Javanese Konde and accessories! Like mother, like daughter hey? Jess did her makeup and Yana assisted with costume and poses for the shoot. Lestari traditions do run deep.

The Photoshoot 

Here’s the fun part! We met Yovina at Swinburne Uni Photography Studio and were briefed before the shoot. Yovina is so talented and explored a mixture of shots with Jess as her model, including soft and shadowed looks. We had a wonderful time improvising different Javanese poses and finished the shoot with some fun dangdut background music - the iconic 'Lagu Syantik' 

After

Lestari Girls Jess and Yana both had a wonderful time at the collaborative photoshoot. We love connecting with like-minded creatives who share an interest in Indonesian Culture and Dance! Jess and Yana's efforts were much appreciated by Mama Ning and Mama Yulitta, our konde queens! Yovina has sent us some sneak peeks of the photos from the shoot and we are blown away! 

Last words

Look, it's no konde of Mama's standard, but we did our very best and Jess looked gorgeous as usual. We appreciated the time, effort and significance of wearing a Javanese Konde - it is truly a beautiful part of the Javanese culture. 

A reminder that we should take Mama Ning up on that offer to teach us all how to do our own konde! Hopefully, this is a talent we can pass onto the next generation of Lestari.
