Sanggar Lestari was honoured to be invited to perform at the Diplomatic Reception to celebrate 74 years of Indonesia's Independence!

To welcome special guests to this prestigious event, Sanggar Lestari performed 'Tari Ngarak Penganten' from Sumatera, Indonesia.

This joyful night, hosted by Consulate General Ibu Spica Tutuhatunewa, was made warmer with the presence of counterparts of the Consulate General as well as Members of Parliament and other Community Leaders.

Our founder, Mama Ning also sang traditional Indonesian Songs accompanied by 'Mojang Angklung Melbourne'. This was such a great performance as the group, led by Kang Rubby, played the traditional Angklung Bamboo Instrument live for audiences to enjoy! Not only did the Mojang Angklung Ladies sound great, but they also looked so incredible, using various traditional Indonesian Costumes as they performed.

Did you know that Sanggar Lestari also offers costume hire for special events? Many of the costumes and headpieces worn by the dancers, Angklung performers and Consulate Staff, were provided by Sanggar Lestari. These costumes are from our vast collection of traditional Dance and Cultural Outfits. Everyone looked incredible!
