WHY DO YOU LIKE INDONESIAN DANCING?
I love dancing in general. I do enjoy watching and performing dance. I have always wanted to learn traditional dance since I was a child. The memory of me watched Jaipong and Legong dance show on TVRI with my grandpa, it was like a love at first sight. However, I couldn’t find many traditional dance classes in the cities where I grew up. Alternatively, I joined a Cheerleading team in high school to pursue my hobby in dancing.
WHY ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT INDONESIA?
I spent my whole life in Indonesia. Born and bred. I do not regret a single second of them. I am proud of my country. If even tourists can tell you how splendid and loveable Indonesia is, the people who actually live in Indonesia will still add a dozen more.
MY FAVOURITE STYLE OF INDONESIAN DANCE
My first love for Indonesian dance was Jaipong and Legong dance. Recently, I am interested in Remo dance as well. Each dances have different characteristic, meaning, purposes and music style.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PART OF SANGGAR LESTARI?
I didn't think twice about joining in Sanggar Lestari when I watched their online performance in July 2020. My first face-to-face class with Lestari was nearly a year after that because of the Melbourne’s lockdown. I am so glad for having new friends and new family in Melbourne that have the same passion as me about Indonesian culture and dancing.
